Morzine
Morzine sits surrounded by towering peaks and tall firs, lies deep in the Dranse River Valley just over an hour's drive from Geneva Airport or approximately eight hours from Calais. Morzine is an undiscovered gem of a ski village which is the largest of the 14 skiing resorts found in the Les Portes du Soleil (Gateway to the Sun) which is the most expansive skiing area in the world, covering both France and Switzerland. The village of Morzine rests at 1,000 meters (3,300 ft) and enjoys panoramic views of the Mont Blanc Massif, The Aravis Mountains, and the Dents Blanc (White Teeth).

Morzine has a friendly and unpretentious feel with a good selection of shops, bars, numerous bistro's and restaurants.

Typical savoured specialities include cheese based Tarti Plette, Berthoud and of course Fondue, or if you're feeling adventurous how about Flash-Fried Frogs with bacon or potato fritters. Local wines, such as Crepy a simple white wine from the savoy, are excellent and very reasonably priced.
Dining Out

Morzine
If Apres ski is what you crave, Morzine blends its old world history with new world entertainment subtly so that all night reveler's can party to the latest sounds in one of the three disco's, while those who prefer a romantic dinner by the fire of a local restaurant will still feel they have stepped back a century or two.

La Semaine des Folies, or "Crazy Week", is a great start to the year with people partying in the streets all night and all week. There is a tremendous fireworks display on the 31st in the town square with hotels and bars hosting special parties throughout the week.
