Morzine
is situated in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region,
which boasts 650 km's of marked pistes served by 240 lifts,
linking 13 resorts in France and Switzerland.
The
scenery and character of this region is extremely varied
from Avoriaz which has the highest skiing area and an excellent
snow record, to the wealth of scenic runs in Morzine, Chatel
and Let Gets where it is always possible to find quiet runs
through trees even during the busiest weeks.
Beginners Skiing
First time skiers are well looked after in the Portes
du Soleil area. Avoriaz has perfect nursery slopes next
to the resort, easily reached on foot or by ski-lift.

Intermediates Skiing
The Portes du Soleil is a fantastic area for intermediates.
The skiing starts on your doorstep and for those who
want to venture further, there is the entire Portes
du Soleil circuit, with 650kms of runs.
Advanced
Skiing
Spanning across 12 ski resorts, the Portes du Soleil
area has some of the most challenging skiing in France.
There are more than 20 black runs, including some of
the biggest moguls in the world on the "Wall"
at Avoriaz, not to mention endless off-piste possibilities
and the hair-raising "Jean Vuarnet" World
Cup Downhill run from the top of Les Hauts Forts down
to Les Prodains. |

Snowboarding
Guide
Avoriaz is easily one of the top European snowboarding
destinations. It has always been heavily behind snowboarding
and regularly features in international magazines, with
riders like Nicolas Droz seen blasting the board park.
Freeriders should check out the Hauts Forts area. The
resorts are also a great place to get into the world
of Heli-boarding and beginners will find Morzine no
problem with plenty of wide, mellow terrain
